About Me

As a kid I loved playing the piano, but I didn’t enjoy lessons with my stuffy piano teacher. So after a few years of diminishing enthusiasm, I stopped taking lessons while still young. As I matured, I often wished I had continued with lessons, but they had been so boring! Happily though, the story doesn’t end there – my excitement for playing the piano was rekindled years later through Simply Music.

My path back to the piano came through working as an Alexander Technique teacher of body use and movement education. During that time, I was working with many musicians, helping them find new depth and fluidity in their art. One day, one of the pianists I was working with told me about Simply Music. The method’s possibilities captured my imagination, and I jumped at the chance to learn in this new way. Soon my excitement for playing the piano was rekindled – I found that I was actually having fun playing again! This inspired me to go through the Simply Music training program, and in 2009 I become an accredited Simply Music Teacher.

Now I have students ranging in age from 6 to 65, and all of them can sit down at the piano and play a wide variety of great music with energy, skill, and feeling. As a teacher and a pianist, I couldn’t be happier with the results. How different things are than when I was a kid!
